Congratulations on your new EV! To make the first weeks relaxed, we have put together the most important points.
1. Sort out charging
- At home: Is there a wallbox or a charging option in the garage? Have installation and fusing checked by a qualified electrician.
- On the road: Get a charging card or app that works at as many stations as possible, and compare prices.
- Charging cables: Check which cables come with the car and where you store them.
2. Set up the app and software
Most EVs can be controlled via the manufacturer's app: pre-conditioning, charge level, location. Set up the app right away and check whether software updates are available.
3. Protect the interior
The interior is at its best when it is new – and easiest to keep clean if you protect it from the start:
- Custom-fit floor mats and trunk mat
- Screen protector for the large display
- Sunshades for the rear windows, especially with kids or pets
4. Insurance and breakdown cover
Check whether your insurance covers the battery and charging cable and whether your breakdown service also tows EVs.
5. Get to know your range
Drive consciously in the first weeks and watch how range changes in the cold, on the motorway and in city traffic. That makes planning longer trips easy later.
For BYD Seal U drivers we have bundled the most important items in the New Car Bundle.
