Tesla Model Y and Model 3: Which Generation Do I Have?

Panzerglas für Mittel- und Rückdisplay im Tesla

Tesla keeps updating its models – and for accessories that makes a big difference. Floor mats or screen glass for the old generation often don't fit the new one. Here is how to find out which version you drive.

1. Check your registration papers

The safest clue is the model year or first registration. As a rule of thumb: the new Model 3 (“Highland”) arrived in 2024, the new Model Y (“Juniper”) in 2025. Cars from the changeover can differ – if in doubt, ask us.

2. Is there a rear-seat display?

The new Model 3 and new Model Y have a small display for the rear seats between the front seats. Previous generations don't. Exception: the more affordable Model Y Standard has no rear display despite being the new generation.

3. What does the front look like?

The new Model Y has a full-width light bar at the front and rear. On the Model 3 you recognise the new generation by its slimmer headlights and smoother front.

Why this matters for accessories

  • Floor mats: The footwell shape changed between generations.
  • Screen glass: Display size and shape differ by generation and version. For the new Model Y and Model 3 you pick the right display size directly on the product page.
  • Glass roof sunshade: The frames are made for the shape of the roof.

Every product lists model, generation and model year. Just pick your car in the Tesla section – or send us a photo and we tell you what fits.
